App showcase prompt

Free. A motion graphics video of your app, modeled on a reference video you like. I use it at 15 seconds for launch teasers and 45 seconds for demos. For apps and projects that already have a frontend UI. Some of it started as prompts I found on X (I forgot who posted them) that I've since improved.

Setup

ModelClaude Opus 5.5Sonnet 5.5 also works.
ProviderClaude CodeAnthropic's coding agent, run in your terminal or the desktop app.
Plan$20/month ProEnough for about one video a day. The $100 plan is overkill at that pace.
PluginsNoneNo plugins or MCP servers. Claude may ask to install ffmpeg or Node to render the video.

Note: This prompt uses more tokens than most because Claude studies the reference frame by frame, writes a rubric and keeps rendering new versions until one beats the last.

Example

How to use

  1. Pick a reference video. I used this LangEase launch video. Want the same reference? Download it and save it in your app's folder.
  2. Copy prompt 1 and replace every [PLACEHOLDER] with your own details.
  3. Open Claude Code in your app's folder and paste it.
  4. Answer its questions. It keeps improving the video until it beats the reference.
  5. If it feels too much like an ad, send prompt 2 to turn it into a demo.

Prompt 1: Showcase video

Show prompt 1
Knowing everything you know about [PRODUCT], make a dynamic [LENGTH]-second motion graphics video that shows what an incredible motion designer you are, like it's your showreel for a resume. Go all out. Insane SFX, insane story, insane motion and transitions and effects. Extract each frame, listen to it and understand them fully.

Don't stop until you have a video that rivals these source videos for insane motion, insane effects, insane transitions, insane changes in perspective, insane SFX, insane aesthetic and taste.

Here is a product demo that I think is world class. Extract every frame and analyse the audio until you understand exactly why they work. Write that down as a rubric. Then make a [LENGTH]-second motion piece for [PRODUCT] that rivals them, rendered from code. Don't stop until a panel of critics, judging against the references with that rubric, can't find anything major. Every new version has to beat the last one side by side, or it doesn't ship.

[PATH TO REFERENCE VIDEO]

Use our [COLOR] theme. Take into account [SIGNATURE ELEMENT, e.g. "the shader on the main button"], which will be our signature look in the product demo.

Focus on the main features of the product:
-> [FEATURE 1]
-> [FEATURE 2]
-> [FEATURE 3]
-> [FEATURE 4]

Criteria:
-> has to be within [LENGTH] seconds
-> has to be impactful within the first 0.5 seconds, since it only takes a moment for someone to lose attention
-> the first 2 seconds should still be impactful
-> there should be something happening every 3 seconds to keep the viewer engaged
-> it should still convey the features (without being too detailed) in that short time span

Follow the color scheme. The goal is a marketing + showcase video, so it has to be engaging yet not too fast, so viewers can read and see the details.

You can use mock data images/videos for showcasing.

Before proceeding, ask me any questions you may have.

Prompt 2: Turn it into a demo

Send this after prompt 1 to show more of how the app works and less marketing.

Feedback:
* Make it less markety
* Show more of how the app works
* Fetch the latest frontend and focus on the demo, with some marketing polish on top
* This video is for [AUDIENCE, e.g. hackathon judges]
